Law enforcement agencies that would like to enter to win a Powerheart AED G3 Plus need to register online at http://www.officer.com/cardiac-science. Entrants must view the webinar “AEDs: How to find the money and save lives,” to learn more about AEDs and how to implement a program in your community.
Both programs end Dec. 21, and winners will be notified by Jan. 15, 2013.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) strikes approximately 365,000 people in North America every year, more than lung cancer, breast cancer and AIDS combined.
"AEDs are life-saving devices, not only for citizens, but also for firefighters serving their community," said Greg Toritto, publisher of Firehouse.
“ We are proud to partner with Cardiac Science to provide this life-saving technology," said Frank Borelli, Editorial Director for the Cygnus Law Enforcement Group which is comprised of Officer.com, Law Enforcement Technology magazine and Law Enforcement Product News.
Each year, the law enforcement and fire service responders lose a significant number of members from sudden cardiac arrest. "Cardiac Science has been working to reduce SCA fatalities since we introduced the first fully automated external defibrillator,” said Mike Fry, General Manager of Resuscitation, Cardiac Science. “Publicly accessible AEDs are crucial in this fight against SCA.”
The Powerheart G3 and Powerheart G3 Plus AEDs are Rescue Ready®, meaning they self-test daily to ensure they work when needed. The device analyzes the heart rhythm and “knows” when to deliver (or not deliver) the shock. Users are guided through the process with clear voice prompts, and the unit features a text screen that provides helpful information. The Powerheart AEDs have a seven-year warranty and a four-year full battery replacement guarantee.
